Max disappeared on a cold and cloudy October afternoon. He chased a squirrel into the trees behind my house. I was in the yard, I called him to come home, but he didn’t come. It was strange because he was coming barking always when I called him. Always there was a joy in his eyes when I was calling him. I called his name again and again.
